Polish cities are facing the challenge of guaranteeing high quality of life for inhabitants - a challenge which they are demanding to implement in subsequent elections and participatory budgets. The coronavirus pandemic in cities around the world has highlighted the importance of high-quality green spaces accessibility as well as developing both safe and environmentally friendly mobility patterns. It is also a huge threat to the balance of local government budgets and their ability to invest in creating green, smart cities.
During the inaugural workshop of the Eco-city 2021, we will check how local governments can use green reconstruction and the funds available for it to improve the quality of life and the state of the environment in Polish cities. Planned changes in the National Urban Policy to support this process will be the basis for the discussion.
During the meeting, we will focus on 3 goals from the National Urban Policy that strongly address environmental issues:
Goal 3. Adapting cities to climate change and increasing the use of nature-based solutions
Goal 4. Digital technologies supporting city management processes and optimization of access to public services
Goal 5. Counteracting the negative effects of suburbanization and reuse of space in cities
During registration, we will ask you to select a group, which will result in an assignment to a dedicated discussion room
